Mobile users switching to Melita Mobile to save money
Tuesday, July 17, 2012
Data provided by the Malta Communications Authority (MCA) for the first six months of this year shows that Melita Mobile attracted the largest net number of customers switching from one mobile operator to another.
Switching of existing numbers from one operator to another shows that Melita Mobile attracted around 2,500 customers in the first six months of 2012. Results for other mobile operators vary from winning 20 new customers or losing more than 3000 customers over 6 months respectively.
This trend follows previous data covering earlier periods where Melita Mobile was also the provider of choice for customers when switching operators and keeping their existing mobile number.
“We are very happy about this result. While not all customers opt to keep their existing mobile number when switching operators, this latest result clearly positions Melita Mobile as the value proposition and money saver in mobile services and is increasingly making us the provider of choice for existing mobile users. These positive results also follow other very encouraging results published by the MCA which confirmed Melita’s 11% subscriber market share (March 2012) and 60,000 active customers in just 3 years of operation”, commented Michael Darmanin, Director of Business Services and Marketing at Melita.
MCA data also shows that almost a quarter of all the mobile minutes in Malta originate from Melita’s mobile network.
Melita is the fastest growing mobile operator in Malta and remains the best value offer in Malta with prepaid rates for as low as 10c per minute to any local network and SMS rates of just 1c to any network.
