Following the success of the pilot launch of automated payment machines in its outlets in Valletta and Paola, Melita is introducing more payment machines around the island. The automated payment machines form part of the company’s investment program to enhance customer experience.

The new payment machines are located at the Melita store within GS Superstore in Naxxar and within Smart Supermarket in Birkirkara. Other machines are available at Melita’s retail outlets in the Embassy Shopping Centre and Paola Square, Paola.

“The payment machines have been a great success and also proved to be an excellent contributor to improve customer experience. Following the initial feedback, the payment process has been extremely simplified and customers can walk in and out of a store in a few minutes without having to wait in long queues. Apart from being easy-to-use, the machines are also strategically located in places which have a large footfall and hence customers may comfortably make payments while they are doing other errands or shopping around”, said Kevin Borg, Head of Sales and Customer Experience at Melita.

Melita estimates that on average 40% of payment transactions at the Valletta and Paola outlets are being made through the new automated pay machine. The automated pay machines are very easy to use and similar in concept to automated petrol machines. Customers simply need to follow a simple three step process: scan the barcode on the bill, insert cash, collect change and receipt.

“These automated payment machines now form an integral part of our effort to improve customer experience. They are an easy-to-use and extremely convenient method for paying bills. Customers’ daily routines are increasingly becoming more hectic and for this reason, we are introducing methods such as these automated pay machines and Melita’s online portal, My Melita, to help lessen the burden on our customers,” added Mr. Borg.
