Manchester United fly to Amsterdam to meet Ajax for their first encounter in the UEFA Europa League. On February 16th, the Amsterdam Arena will host the battle between two European football giants. United will aim to shine after being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.

The match will be broadcast live on Melita Sports (Channel 701) and in High Definition on Melita Sports HD (Channel 710) with kick-off at 7:00pm. In comments to the club’s official website, Sir Alex Ferguson said: “Ajax are a good team and I’ve never faced them in competitive European football. I’m looking forward to it.”

On the other hand Ajax manager Frank de Boer expressed his delight at drawing a quality club like Manchester United and said he expects the English side to be tough adversaries. “I think I played one friendly match against Manchester United myself. It was when Peter Schmeichel was still goalkeeper at Old Trafford… Correct me if I’m wrong but I think I netted a free kick during that match.”

Post-match discussion and analysis will be hosted by Peter-Paul Gauci on “Focus Europa”.
