We all lead hectic lives and sometimes, keeping on top of it all can become quite daunting.
Luckily, technology has stepped in to make things a little bit easier.
You might not be wealthy enough to hire a personal assistant, but with these time-saving apps, you can cut down on the wasted minutes in your day and stay organised.
At Melita, we’ve rounded up 10 awesome apps that will help you get more done. After a few weeks you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them!
1. Google Apps
Granted, this is more than one app but Google provides a surprisingly effective suite of apps to. From Google docs, sheets and slides, enabling you to make use of presentations, spreadsheets and documents which can be accessed from anywhere in the world. Couple this with services like Google Calendar and Google Keep for note taking and you can’t go wrong! What about Google Maps? The app which can literally take you anywhere!
2. Last Pass
We’ll admit it, having to remember your passwords is a nightmare. Enter LastPass, a password management tool that makes it easy to generate, remember, and even share detailed and secure passwords. All of your credentials and passwords are stored on the app, so you can log in faster to many websites and most importantly you only need to remember one password!
Trello is a cool app to help you stay organised at work and home. It allows for the seamless collaboration with co-workers and friends or can be used to create ‘boards’ to organise your projects one task at a time. Trello is free to use, though they do offer premium plans too.
This is a different kind of app which is great for people who suffer with distractions and need to focus for continuous periods of time. The app grows a tree which dies if you use your phone or specific sites on your browser. You collect trees and progress through the game, that way it acts as a motivator for you to stay focused.
5. Our Groceries
Our Groceries is a great app when it comes to synching various shopping lists between family members. It means that when you go out shopping, you spend much less time in store. You’ll never forget the list at home because it’s on your smartphone and updates automatically. You can have different shopping lists according to your needs, for instance, a list for groceries, a list for the hardware store and so on. The ‘pro’ version even lets you scan barcodes.
Mobile banking apps have made leaps and strides in recent years and have really come to the forefront of alternative payment methods. Perhaps the most proliferous of these is Revolut. A very easy-to-set-up app which enables you to send payments to other Revolut users based only on their mobile phone number. It also provides users with a contactless visa card and some of the best exchange rates when using the service abroad.
There are few things worse than having your texts autocorrected by your smartphone, but SwiftKey learns your typing patterns and eliminates the frequency of typos saving you lots of time hitting the ‘back’ button in the process. It’s a must-download for any Melita customer.
AccuWeather is an excellent app that provides hourly, daily and 15-day weather forecasts, which you can integrate with your calendar. The MinuteCast feature even provides hyper-local, minute-by-minute forecasts for the next two hours. AccuWeather’s reach is comprehensive, with forecast data for more than 3 million locations, including Malta and Gozo.
9. Contacts Plus
A lot of the time you end up mixing up numbers, forgetting who the person you need to call is or just have a very messy contacts list in general, which means it takes time to find and contact the right people. Contacts Plus allows you to set up a beautifully designed contacts list that can be prioritized by frequency of calls. It is synced with Twitter, Facebook and Whatsapp so you can add a current profile picture to every entry and quickly contact them via call, SMS or message them through social media. Genius!
This app is a lifesaver when you’re in a rush and need to sign off on some documents. Until a few years ago, you had to scan the document, email it, print it out, sign it, scan it again and email it again. It was a cumbersome process to say the least. HelloSign takes the hassle out by allowing you to legally sign documents electronically. Not only that, but documents are stored and organized in HelloSign’s secure cloud storage system.
